Norton Museum of Art.

So today my Art History class took a field trip to the Norton Museum of Art in downtown West Palm Beach. Last week in class I had coerced my teacher into letting us take a field trip there to see the Ansel Adams photography exhibit, seeing that it is ending in a few days.

Ansel Adams is one of my favorite Photographers because of his love for nature. He has incredible landscape photos, which is what I love the most. He captures the beauty of nature so well. Anyway there were many photographs I fell in love with and wanted to take pictures of but sadly the museum has a no camera policy & every room was heavily guarded! So no sneak attacks :( but I was able to sneak some pictures of the hallways and one room that makes you feel like your under the ocean! I was able to find some of my favorites on his website.

This was a favorite of mine, title: Thunderstorms, taken in New Mexico.

This was another favorite of mine, title: Thundercloud, taken at Lake Tahoe This one too! Title: Dogwood. I love these flowers!

I always have such a great time at the Norton. I love it there. It is so peaceful.

Boca Muvico Palace 20 & The Premier Theaters .

So my boyfriend Dave, is not only a writer for the Delray Forum, but also is their Food Critic.

Every so often I get lucky enough to go with him on a review.

This past Tuesday night he had a review at the Boca Muvico Palace 20 restaurant: Bogart's Bar & Grille. All I can say about this place, WOW. Very classy place indeed.

It is always so much fun to go with him, not only extra time with him, but it is an amazing experience for me, being a Chef and all. I have been able to experience so many new places because of Dave! I always feel special too!(being the food critics girl & all!) We get treated like royalty because everyone there is trying to please us, knowing he is writing a food review!

Anyway, here are some photos of our delicious meal!

Our appetizer's were: Three Cheese Mac & Cheese with a Parmesan crumb topping.

& Crispy Calamari with a yuzu soy-glaze.

Then my entree was: Dijon Crusted Chicken “Milano” with spinach, sweet potato raviolis and maple-dijon cream sauce.

Dave's entree was: Keylime Grilled Mahi Mahi with pineapple-coconut rice, sauteed spinach, citrus-butter sauce and crispy plantains

& Dessert of course, the best part was: Chef Nico's Deep Dish Old Fashioned Blueberry Pie with vanilla ice cream! Made by in-house Pastry Chef, Nico Jambetakis.

Everything was so scrumptious, party in your mouth, woah baby good! Especially DESSERT!

After dinner, we were given tickets to enjoy a premier level viewing of Observe and Report. Very funny movie!
It was such a fun night!

Photography

By the time I was a junior in high school, I was already starting to feel that "senioritis" illness every one close to graduating talks about. I was focused on what classes I could take that were easy to just get by with.

As I browsed through the class choices, I saw photography listed and remember how much my best friend Courtney had talked about her love for it the previous year. I knew then, that photography was what would help me heal my heart & create a bond with Courtney since her passing away at the end of our sophomore year.
I knew that was my class & signed up!

As my junior year went on, my love for my photography class grew beyond words. I saw what Courtney did & where most of her joy came from; capturing others joy in lifelong memories.

Senior year came & I quickly excelled to AP photography! I was so excited to finally be working with digital images & photoshop! My senior year was so much work & so many photos to take, but it was a passion I discovered I had, just as Courtney did. In a way, it brought me closer to her, even in the darkest moments. As the year went on, I developed more skills in my work & soon had what was a "spare of the moment photo" showcased in an art exhibit downtown. I was so honored!

Then the stressful end of my senior year came & that meant AP Portfolio time! I had to chose my BEST six photos to mount & take countless slides of all my work. I was so nervous in the waiting period to hear back my grade. Well the waiting paid off, because I not only got an "A" in my class but I scored a "3" on my portfolio which meant I received the photography college credit as a senior in high school!

Because cooking took over my life when I graduated high school I never did get the chance to use that credit, but I hope to in the future.

Today, my love for photography has only grown stronger and I continue to capture every moment in a timeless memory to share with my children one day. I've always wanted to capture & show the world how truly beautiful we all are & the place we live in.

As I continue to share my escapades with the world, you will see some of my work & why I love this world we live in so much. It truly is filled with a peace that only eyes can see.

Love&PeaceAlways.

Off to a fun start!

Well as my first post I'll try to make it as exciting as I can. As you can tell from my little bio, I'm Katie & a Pastry Chef.

Funny thing is, I actually don't work as a pastry chef at the moment but a line cook. I've been doing that for about a year now.
It's actually been pretty hard finding a "pastry" job in the past year. Every restaurant seems to be buying their pastries, rather than making them their selves. It can sadly be cheaper buying them from suppliers, which unfortunately makes it really hard for me to find a Pastry Chef job! But in the meantime I'm sticking to being a line cook. It satisfies my cooking need for now! But if anyone reading this knows of a Pastry Chef job, hit me up! ChefKEves@gmail.com

Any who, back to my fun crazy life. When you don't find me at work cooking up a storm, I'm at school finishing up my Bachelor's degree in Culinary Management. It's fun, but at the same time it can be very stressful, specially my current quarter, accounting. It is so dreadful. I'm only in the 3rd day of it & I'm already climbing up the walls! I'll somehow survive the madness like I always have for the past 2 1/2 years at FCI!

Another part of my life is my amazing boyfriend, David DiPino. He's my other half! Like me, he is a fellow Chef, who has been working in the industry for around 15 years. He also graduated from FAU in 2007, with his Bachelor's in Multimedia Journalism. He has been writing for the Forum Publishing Group since 2006, which some of his stories can be seen in the Sun Sentinal as well. He also writes pretty much the whole Delray Forum paper. And if that wasn't enough to keep him busy, in November 2008 he started a part time job at my work, and that's how we met!

Well I hope this post has given you a little insight into my life, and keep coming back for more of my adventures as a Chef & peacemaker!

Love&PeaceAlways.
